Kirkland farms is located in the heart of the Medulla community just south of Lakeland Florida. The farm is the original Kirkland family homestead. In 1876 the first Kirkland moved to this area and took possession of the land as their homestead. The homestead program guaranteed newcomers that if they would work and farm the land for five years that the land would be deeded over. In 1883, that dream became a reality and Kirkland farms was born. Generations of Kirkland’s have farmed and lived on the property since that time. The property is currently owned jointly by Nelson Kirkland and Brenda Kirkland Gordon and the blueberry farm operation is a owned by Nelson and Brenda and their spouses. Dot Kirkland and Darrel Gordon.
